HPE iLO5 Intelligent Provisioning Stuck on 'Attempt Firmware Update'

Issue

Users may experience an issue on HP iLO5 (Gen10/Gen10+) servers where the system becomes stuck in the 'Job Viewer' when booting into Intelligent Provisioning. This is caused by corrupt firmware updates getting stuck in the job queue.

Resolution

The user can clear the job queue using the following procedure:

  • Establish SSH CLI connection using PuTTY or MobaXterm. (Tip: move system maintenance switch 1 on the motherboard to the 'on' position to bypass iLO security)
  • From the root level, enter oemhp_clearRESTAPIstate

  • Reset iLO in the BIOS or Web Interface
  • Intelligent Provisioning will now be reset its original state
