Issue: When attempting to power on Dell EMC PowerEdge C6420 nodes that have been unused for some time, you may find that they show no signs of life at the power button. However, the UID LED will flash orange, indicating an underlying issue.

How to Resolve No Power/Boot Issue

To resolve the issue and restore functionality, follow these steps:

  1. Replace the CMOS battery with a new, fully charged battery.
  2. Press and hold the power button for 10 seconds to boot the node.
  3. Log into the iDRAC interface and check the event log.
  4. Look for errors related to the CMOS battery and P-Fault.
  5. Clear the event logs and allow the node to reboot.

Important: Even if the existing CMOS battery measures 3V, it may still cause this issue. Ensure you use a new, well-charged CMOS battery for reliable performance.
